On the afternoon of May 14, the 49th session of the SEM "Broad Horizons in Management — SEM Alumni Forum" was held in Room 312 of the Economics and Management Building. Zhong Yangang, a member of the 2012 MBA class of the School of Economics and Management (SEM), Vice President of the USTB MBA Alumni Association, and Deputy General Manager of Zhongshe Jianzi International Engineering Consulting (Beijing) Co., Ltd., was invited to deliver a talk entitled "The New Development Landscape of the Construction Industry and the Growth of Young Professionals." The lecture was hosted by Wu Sen, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School.

Secretary Wu Sen warmly welcomed alumnus Zhong Yangang as the guest of this session of the Alumni Forum and introduced his background to faculty and students.

During the hour-and-a-half talk, alumnus Zhong Yangang focused on the new development landscape of the construction industry and the growth of young professionals, offering an in-depth analysis of the historical context and underlying logic behind the industry's transition from "Built in China" to "Intelligently Made in China." Drawing on the cutting-edge practices of leading enterprises such as China Building Science Technology, he systematically explained how, driven by both the development of new quality productive forces and the green and low-carbon transition, the construction industry is shifting from "expansion of scale" to "value-based operation" and from "drawing delivery" to "full-lifecycle services," and he explored in particular the opportunities in emerging fields such as urban renewal, intelligent construction, and asset operation. Finally, drawing on the "T-shaped competency model" for SEM talent, he showed faculty and students a career-development path that aligns national strategic needs with personal capability growth. He encouraged students to anchor their life direction with a sound mindset, full enthusiasm, and solid comprehensive qualities; to cultivate philosophical wisdom and a positive attitude; to consolidate their professional foundation and broaden cross-disciplinary horizons in their studies; and to strive to grow into interdisciplinary SEM professionals who meet the requirements of the new era.

At the close of the lecture, Secretary Wu Sen, on behalf of the School, expressed heartfelt gratitude to alumnus Zhong Yangang. She noted that alumnus Zhong Yangang, standing at the forefront of the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry, had deeply integrated national strategic orientation, the logic of industrial transformation, and the career development of young professionals, presenting faculty and students with an intellectual feast that combined a macro perspective with practical depth, and vividly demonstrating the professional competence and patriotic sentiment of SEM alumni. She stated that the "Broad Horizons in Management — SEM Alumni Forum" will continue to bring together the wisdom of outstanding alumni, build bridges for the integration of industry and education, and, through multi-dimensional industry insights and experience sharing, help current students broaden their cognitive horizons and clarify their growth paths. She warmly looks forward to more alumni returning to campus to share experience and inspire wisdom, walking hand in hand with the School to jointly empower the outstanding growth of the young generation.
