From January 23 to 25, the Entrepreneurs Chapter of the SEM Alumni Association successfully held its first study tour of 2026 in Yunnan. Themed "Entrepreneurs' Health Journey," the event was jointly organized by the Entrepreneurs Chapter of the SEM Alumni Association and the Yunnan Alumni Association. During the tour, the participants held health and wellness exchanges and an alumni networking seminar in Yunnan, and paid on-site visits to alumni enterprises. He Minqing, former Vice President of USTB, Deputy Director of the University Council, and Vice President of the USTB Alumni Association, was invited to attend the event. Hou Chaogang, Director of the General Office of the USTB Alumni Affairs Office and the Education Foundation Office, accompanied the whole trip. Ye Kunsheng, Vice President of the Yunnan Alumni Association, Secretary-General Chen Qi, and Liu Haibo, Chairman of Hainan Jinmu Technology and an alumnus from the 1990 Mechanical Engineering class, took part in the reception throughout and attended the related activities.
On January 24, under the organization and reception of Liu Xingyu, Vice President of the Entrepreneurs Chapter and an alumnus from the 1989 Industry and Trade class, the alumni first visited the Bogu Health and Wellness Laboratory. During the activity, drawing on Yunnan's rich biodiversity resources, the head of the laboratory introduced wellness practices such as dietary regulation and mind-body conditioning, centered on the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) concept of "treating disease before it occurs," and discussed ways to relieve the physical and mental stress brought about by the fast pace of urban life. He also offered personalized dietary-therapy recommendations to the alumni based on physical constitution assessments. The alumni then toured a TCM wellness exhibition space, gaining a firsthand understanding of how TCM culture is applied in everyday life and further enhancing their awareness of scientific health management.

Chen Qi, Secretary-General of the Yunnan Alumni Association, reported on the association's work in 2025. He noted that, despite practical challenges such as a generational gap in the alumni structure and tight activity funding, the younger generation of alumni in the Yunnan Alumni Association has shouldered its responsibilities and acted proactively, rallying resources from multiple parties and organizing a number of alumni activities.

He Minqing fully affirmed the achievements of the Yunnan Alumni Association and stated that he would actively support the association in linking up with the resources of the USTB Alumni Association, attracting more alumni in Yunnan to join, and jointly promoting its high-quality development.

On January 25, the second stop of the study tour visited the Kunming base of Hainan Jinmu New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., founded by Liu Haibo, an alumnus from the 1990 Mechanical Engineering class. Jinmu Technology specializes in the R&D and production of purification technology for rare and precious metals; its products have already been applied in aerospace and other high-end manufacturing fields and are now expanding into the new energy industry. Liu Haibo led the alumni in touring the production workshops and warehousing areas and shared his experience in industrialization. As a cross-industry tech entrepreneur, he has accumulated extensive experience in high-end manufacturing, the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and industrial investment. During the exchange, he also held in-depth discussions with several alumni entrepreneurs in the mining industry on exploring the feasibility of joint upstream mineral resource development, and the parties initially reached cooperation intent.

During the event, Liu Baoshan, a calligrapher and painter from the Liu Bingsen Calligraphy and Painting Art Research Institute, presented the Entrepreneurs Chapter with a piece of calligraphy inscribed with the words "students flourishing everywhere," adding a rich cultural flavor to the event.

The journey ahead is vast, and friendship is the vessel. The Entrepreneurs Chapter of the SEM Alumni Association will always serve as a solid bond connecting alumni and pooling wisdom. It looks forward to inspiring one another with alumni at large in ever more diverse activities, and to collaborating on innovation and pursuing shared development on ever broader platforms.
