On November 20–22, the study tour organized by the Entrepreneurs Chapter of the SEM Alumni Association was held in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. The event was attended by a group of more than 20 people, including He Minqing, former Vice President of the University, Deputy Director of the University Council, and Vice President of the USTB Alumni Association; He Jin, former Director of the University's Alumni Affairs Office and Education Foundation Office, together with Zhu Wenliang, former Deputy Director of these offices; and Liu Yan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management (SEM). Representatives from sibling alumni associations in Ningbo, Suzhou and elsewhere also took part.

The event was organized by alumnus Yi Jin (class of 1989 in Rolling), CEO of Kateeva Display Technology (Shaoxing) Co., Ltd. After graduation, Yi Jin has worked across multiple fields including scientific research and investment, demonstrating outstanding cross-disciplinary integration capabilities. As one of the co-founders of the university's "Beike Technology Transfer Roundtable," he has accumulated extensive experience in the incubation of scientific and technological achievements, the cultivation of hard-tech enterprises, and investment practice, and has formed his own insights and professional expertise in these areas.

At Kateeva's facility in the Shaoxing Bonded Zone, Yi Jin briefed the visiting alumni on the company's general profile. Kateeva's core technology and team originate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As a world-leading supplier of core process equipment for semiconductors and displays, the company maintains a leading position in the industry thanks to its advanced inkjet printing technology and high-precision air-bearing glass platform, holds multiple key patents in this field, and continuously drives innovation in related technologies.

The study tour also featured a special presentation by Professor Tian Jianjun, Deputy Dean of the Institute for Advanced Materials and Technology at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). As a leading expert and industry pioneer in the field of novel semiconductor optoelectronic materials and devices, Dean Tian systematically introduced his team's cutting-edge research and representative technological achievements in this direction. Through his accessible yet in-depth explanation, the alumni gained a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the current state of technology, development trends, and innovation opportunities in the display industry.

The alumni engaged in in-depth exchanges on topics such as Kateeva's development history, the future trends of the advanced display industry, pathways for the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements, and potential investment opportunities. They were greatly inspired by the university's abundant achievements in frontier science and technology in recent years, and expressed a clear intention to further advance the incubation of results and concrete investment cooperation.
The event also included visits to cultural landmarks such as the Ancient City of Shaoxing and the Former Residence of Lu Xun, aiming to help participants experience the historical heritage, deepen their humanistic literacy, and enrich the content of the study tour through on-site exploration.
Looking ahead, the Entrepreneurs Chapter of the SEM Alumni Association will remain true to its original aspiration, persevere unremittingly, and continue to develop high-quality study tour and visit programs that combine intellectual depth with practical breadth. We warmly welcome all alumni to keep following and actively taking part as we embark on a new journey together.
